Interior designer duo team up with Cheffins for December sale

The Suffolk cottage by interior designers Benedict Foley and Daniel Slowik with items from the upcoming Cheffins sale.

Slowik, an interior designer who previously spent two decades at Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler, recently set up his own eponymous practice while Foley is an interior designer and merchant.

The couple live in a cottage in Dedham Vale in Suffolk and selected items from the upcoming Cheffins sale have been photographed at their home as part of a promotion for the auction.

Foley said: ‘These beautiful images were shot at our home in the Dedham Vale, they are normally filled with items we have collected at auctions over the years including a lot of Cheffins so it was very fun to curate a selection of the things we love from this sale alongside some of our own kits.

“The house is a modest but charming early 19th century cottage. Originally it was a place where we escaped for the weekends. So we never spent a lot of time or money on building work – the plan was always to create a place that was nice ASAP!

“The uniqueness of the items being auctioned is something we find really exciting, it gives meaning to a place, everything you see here was done in a single day, and while we knew a lot of was going to be offered for sale, we felt that the result was perfectly at home!”

The Cheffins Fine sale takes place on December 8 and 9, and tips and information from Slowik and Foley can be found on the Cheffins website.

A number of auction houses have worked with interior designers to promote sales. Christie’s and Sotheby’s regularly team up with well-known names while Dreweatts and Fellows have hosted events with interior decorators and designers.
